A visit on 26 Feb. 2019 to the Banana Field Genebank in Kassala Research Station has revealed that banana clones of 357 accessions are well-maintained. However, management of intensive weeds continues to be a major challenge in this field. Those accessions represent traditional banana clones that used to be grown in different production areas of banana in Sudan. Collecting of such germlasm started in 2003 and completed in 2007.
